USA TODAY’s panel of Road Warriors, who log millions of miles a year flying, offer some tips to ensure holidays aren’t spoiled by travel stress.
To avoid congested roads and crowded airports, frequent traveler Rip Russell will fly home on Thanksgiving morning and fly back to his job in Philadelphia two days later.Russell, a production accountant working on a movie, says flying on those days to and from Atlanta shortens his holiday but reduces stress.
“By traveling on the shoulders of these megapeak days, I’m far less likely to arrive stressed from the in-bound trip and the anticipation of the dreaded Sunday-after airport pressure cooker,” Russell says.
